The primary duty of a mushroom picker is to, well, pick mushrooms. This involves combing through designated areas in the forest in search of these fungi.
But that’s not all they do – mushroom pickers also have to be on the lookout for other edible plants and berries that might be growing in the same vicinity. Once they’ve gathered their haul, they bring it back to the camp where it is sorted and prepared for sale. Mushroom pickers typically work in teams of 5-10 people, although some larger operations may have larger teams. Regardless of the size of the team, everyone has to pull their own weight and contribute as much as they can.
